Cicatriz (scar) is the first feature length documentary directed by Aprilsnow's founder Jelle Warendorff. Cicatriz focusses on the extreme contradictions and difficulties Central America faces with regard to streetgangs and violence.

Filmed undercover in gang-ridden prisons of Guatemala, El Salvador and Mexico Cicatriz offers a personal insight in the rules, vows, thoughts, believes and regrets of locked up members of the 'Mara Salvatrucha' and el 'Barrio 18', two of the world's biggest and most feared latin gangs. Cicatriz documents a compelling image of central america's so called 'children of the war'

We had to make a difficult decision regarding further availability of Cicatriz... Because of continuing threats, violence and the disappearing of several people involved in this film we decided to not offer Cicatriz (including its soundtrack) to the public anymore.

The importance of speaking up, raising a voice and fight against injustice to help build a better and more equal world are of the utmost importance to us, but being halfway round the world we cannot guarantee the safety of all that were part of this feature for the time being.
